Coast Create

Creativity is the best problem solver.

Louisiana’s economy was historically built through river ways and coast line. This paradise of abundance is now disappearing from the bottom up. Our oysters, seafood, and way of life are all drowning along with it. Climate Culture, Glass Half Full, POH farms and Creole Contemporary, are teaming up to activate community efforts through the power of art.

Creativity as a catalysts for change.

“Every Year Louisiana looses 25-35 square miles of land to costal erosion”

We’ve got concrete plans to keep Louisiana’s coast strong

  • Using local waste material, science, and innovative technology we can build structural solutions to habitat loss world wide.

  • Art is teaming up with experimentation, problem solving, and community activation

  • Our passionate team, seasoned network, and scientific connections are ready to design for your brand.

The Breakdown:

What we do.

  • Our workshops, art auctions, activations, and exhibitions raise funds to address the urgent challenges of ecological and economic instability in Louisiana. We believe ART can be a powerful catalyst for cultural problem-solving and community resilience.

  • This program begins with sponsorship initiation and an open call for artists.

Selected artists will be invited to propose designs that explore the use of REEFBUDS® biocrete and other innovative materials to address coastal and marine ecological challenges

With guidance from scientists and access to cutting-edge equipment—including the potential for 3D printing and fabrication—artists will receive a stipend to develop their concepts. Finalists will have the opportunity to create sculptures (targeting 3–5 ft in height, subject to feasibility and material validation) that compete for a grand prize recognizing the most effective and inspiring design.

Note: This initiative represents a first for both large-scale REEFBUDS® artwork and 3D printing of the material; all approaches will be piloted and validated as part of the program’s development.

  • Our studio is set to produce large and small scale artworks and activations pushing boundaries in arts and cutting edge innovation.

    A Summer solar panel igloo?
    CO2 absorbant mosaic lamp?
Eco signage activation for your brand?

We can design the perfect functional form for whatever the function.

Our first ever workshop launching on June 21st!

Summer Solstice Sundial workshop on Saturday June 21st from 2 - 5pm

Cassidy Creek leads the way as the class enjoys clever sculptural techniques, facts & findings about our material research, summer solstice celebration, and…
ICE COLD DRINKS & AIR CONDITIONING.

Build your very own Garden sundial while supporting our mission to fortify the coast! The night will end with an optional walk down the levy to celebrate the official opening of the summer season.

Our current workshops, commissions, and donations raise funds for our First Large ScalePublic Art Piece. Designed to kick off a fundraiser for the Coast Create innovation sculpture contest.

Merging Art and Science into environmental Activism.

Artists collaborate with biologists, engineers, and geologists to create a fundraising campaign designed to blast international crowdfunding support to current coastal restorative efforts in the Gulf.

  • A call for sculptural artists to submit a profile and portfolio starts off the program. Artists choose between the 2 largest coastal restorative categories: Engineering (hard) approaches and Ecological (soft) approaches.

  • Accepted artists will be given activation stipends of 500$ + materials and studio space to produce a 3ft sculpture designed to merge the worlds of art, environmental activism and SCIENCE.

  • Throughout the design process: Artists collaborate with biologists, engineers, and geologists to create a fundraising campaign designed to blast international crowdfunding support to current coastal restorative efforts in the Gulf.

  • All 3 designs will be 3D scanned and placed in permanent virtual reality gallery so that people can purchase the sculptures all over the world... With royalties going back to the artists.

  • The physical artworks are shown at the Climate Culture expo where bidding takes place on the sculptures and the artworks compete for prizes. Artists get % of sale.

How it all started. What is REEFBUDS®?

REEFBUDS® is a patented, carbon-negative, plant-based biocrete designed to mimic coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Inspired by coral reefs, it mimics nature’s efficiency in habitat creation, wave attenuation, and carbon cycling. Made from local organic and inorganic waste streams, it transforms byproducts into regenerative infrastructure, performing like nature itself.

With over 11,000 deployments globally, REEFBUDS® has demonstrated the potential to support the recovery of marine habitats in a range of environments. We are currently fundraising for research and validation to pursue deployment approval in the Gulf of Mexico.

Pending regulatory approval and further validation, we believe this material has the potential to support the restoration of Louisiana’s coastal ecosystems, contribute to protecting frontline communities from land loss and hurricane damage, and help foster a renewed cultural stewardship of our ecological treasures in the Gulf.

Our workshops, art auctions, activations, and exhibitions raise funds to address the urgent challenges of ecological and economic instability in Louisiana. We believe ART can be a powerful catalyst for cultural problem-solving and community resilience.
